Are you feeling it too? Winter has definitely arrived!
With the Cape living up to its stormy reputation, this winter is set to be an extreme one, and that puts many of our citizens at severe risk.
Many low-income housing areas do not have proper protection from the elements, with flooding, adequate warmth, and access to blankets and clothes all presenting some very real challenges.
If you are a parent yourself, we are sure you can imagine just how heart-breaking it would be to see your child damp and cold. Those of us who have cozy blankets, fireplaces, heaters, and cupboards filled with jerseys are STILL struggling to get warm enough – imagine if these things were then in short supply!
That is why Philippi Children’s Centre has decided to run a blanket drive for the winter season of 2020. Our aim is to collect enough blankets to give one to each of our families.
If we meet this goal, we would be able to donate blankets to 270 homes!
